There’s an old Irish wedding blessing that goes:
May God be with you and bless you.
May you see your children’s children.
May you be poor in misfortune, rich in blessings.
May you know nothing but happiness.
From this day forward.
We recently held a “Generations” Photo Contest in the BabyCenter Community. Many of the entries were filled with the joy that comes from seeing one’s children’s children and even for some, their children’s children’s children. And some of the photos depicted the sorrow of that precious time together ending.
There’s something so powerful in seeing all those generations together. The photos show the very very young together with those who have been around for some time. They are beautiful.
I think those of us who have generations of family who are able to be together realize it truly is a blessing.
