My brain is so not yet there. I still need to get through Halloween and Thanksgiving before I start to think about Christmas. But big box stores, blogs and some parents are already knee deep in the holiday season with speculating on what the season’s hot new toys will be.
Toys R Us has already put together their top 50 toy list (plus as our own Meredith Carroll deems “inconvenience and false demand” with their “hot toy reservation program.” We still have months to go and the predictions are aplenty. One of the new ones is from CNN’s Money. What did they include on their “hot list?”
Illumivor Mecha-SharkFor some glow in the dark fun comes the Illumivor collection by new toy company Skyrocket Toys. The collection includes a 18-inch long Shark as well as the smaller 8-inch characters; Electro Piranha, Hydro Jaw and the Shock Angler. Each one lights up, moves across the floor to the “sound of ominous music.” The biggie retails for $69.99 and is aimed at the 6 and up crowd./strollerderby/2012/09/17/are-these-the-hot-holiday-toys-cnn-thinks-so/#illumivor-mecha-shark
WearablesKids love to play with cardboard, and here is a new way they can decorate, wear and play with cardboard creations with Wearables. After children decorate the items with crayons, markers or stickers, they can put on the cardboard object and fly away.
120914061552-eb-brands-the-orb-large-gallery-horizontalIs it a bird? Is it a plane? Nope it the Orb, the new flying toy from EB Brands. Retailing at $49.99, the UFO inspired toy flies around the room and features a hollow center are with a propellers in the middle with a foam shell that glows.
“The whole concept, and the green glow with the lights, is to give kids the feeling that this is alien technology that’s been captured,” EB Brands’ Chris Wilson said./strollerderby/2012/09/17/are-these-the-hot-holiday-toys-cnn-thinks-so/#120914061552-eb-brands-the-orb-large-gallery-horizontal
The Digi FruitOkay, this one looks pretty delicious, literally. The Digi Fruit by Gamenamics is a digital alarm clock that kids put together themselves using the kit as well as fruit to run the clock. “The clock will continue to tell time for the life of each fruit you try,” Gamenamics president Cathy Burton said. “They are fun to put together, and kids also learn about how toys are assembled and wired.” But I would hate to see what happens when the clock is forgotten with fruit still attached, a deal at $9.99.
Perplexus TwistThis is the fourth version of the maze like game. The Perplexus Twist is a brainteaser that challenges your kids to navigate a marble through different tracks and obstacles.
“There’s a fourth dimension that requires a player to twist the two halves of the sphere to realign the tracks to escape traps, decoys, and cliffhangers,” Andrew Wagar (who represents PlaSmart) said./strollerderby/2012/09/17/are-these-the-hot-holiday-toys-cnn-thinks-so/#perplexus-twist
