So, there are these little frozen delights that are essentially frozen smoothies of the “Add milk/juice” variety. My kids beg for them. I think it has to do with the fact that it seems so easy. It’s all there. Dump into the blender, push the button, voila, smoothie deliciousness is on hand. Too easy.
The thing is, I’m practical. Being practical means that I often to say no to their whims, such as smoothie-in-a-bag. Until, that is, I figured I should just make my own.
There are plenty of reasons why you might want a smoothie-in-a-bag.
1. You are going out of town and it’s an easy snack/meal to leave for the kids and husband to make.
2. You work in the mornings and this is something they can do on their own.
3. You need something that is ready in the morning so you stop skipping breakfast.
4. You love smoothies that much.
5. {Insert your reason here}
Now that you are convinced that there is nothing quite so important in life as smoothies-in-a-bag, let’s make a few.

Smoothie-in-a-Bag
1 cup your favorite berries (I like raspberries and strawberries)
1 banana, cut into chunks
1/2 cup yogurt drops
2 tablespoons flaxseed meal, wheatgerm, chia seeds, hemp seeds, etc.
Place all the ingredients into a Hefty Slider Bag and freeze until frozen and ready to use. To make your smoothie, simply remove the bag, dump into your blender, and add 1/2 cup liquid (almond milk, milk, soy milk, orange juice, etc) and blend until smooth. Drink immediately.
Makes 1 smoothie-in-a-bag.
This recipe can be doubled and tripled easily to fit your family’s needs and the size of your blender. It’s a smoothie that’s nearly ready to go right when you want it.
