If you’re anything like me, your movie-going these days is limited to family-friendly flicks. The Avengers? Avatar? Still haven’t seen them. But we were of course front and center when Brave opened last month (good movie, by the way. Surprisingly heavy on the bears).
Reports out of Hollywood this morning suggest that we may soon be lining up for two very highly anticipated animated sequels: Finding Nemo 2 and Toy Story 4!
According to The Hollywood Reporter a follow-up to the 2003 smash Finding Nemo does seem to be in the works, with director Andrew Stanton back on board. He was at the helm of the original movie, and later directed Wall-E as well. We can only cross our fingers and hope that Ellen DeGeneres will be back to voice Dory as well!
The rumors surrounding Toy Story 4 are a little less reliable at the moment, though franchise star Tom Hanks has said in the past that a follow-up film is being planned.
I’m not embarassed to say that I cry like a baby every time we get to the end of Toy Story 3, when college-bound Andy entrusts his beloved collection of toys to Bonnie, who is possibly the most adorable little cartoon girl ever created. It’s not always a good idea to mess with perfection, but I admit I’d love to see where Woody and Buzz and the gang go from here.
While Finding Nemo and Toy Story rumors have yet to be officially confirmed, Disney Pixar definitely does have one prequel underway: Monsters University, a follow-up to the 2001 film Monsters Inc, is due to hit theaters next summer.
