There’s nothing prettier to me than the colors of summer- cool blues, sandy whites and maybe even some light pinks or oranges from the color of seashells. So it doesn’t surprise me that some of my favorite decorating themes are summer based!
Have you thought about adding a few summery touches to your home this season? The fireplace mantel (or, if you don’t have a fireplace and have a fake mantel- a “fantel!”- you can use that too!) is the perfect place to display your summer treasures and bring a touch of this fun season into your home.
My favorite summer mantel decorating tip is to include natural elements. Summertime is the perfect time to collect (free!) decor pieces from the great outdoors, like seashells, driftwood, sand, garden blooms, sea grass, star fish, etc. Other textured items, such as old barn wood or twine, also add a lot of character to any decor vignette. Also, feel free to make your summer mantel sentimental- add words or phrases that are special or meaningful to you and your family, like “BEACH,” “SURF’S UP!” or “SEA.” In no time at all, you’ll have a perfect summer mantel!
