Did you receive a sewing machine as a wedding gift? Has it been gathering dust in the closet? Now is the time to pull it out and dust that baby off! There are so many amazing free tutorials and you tube videos out there now days…with a little practice you’ll be a pro in no time! I’ve gathered several tutorials that helped me in the beggining and hopefully will help you too.
Once you figure out the basics, the rest comes naturally. There are so many fun things you can make for your kids once you have the basics down.
The first tutorial you’ll want to read is how to thread a sewing machine. That is the first step and probably the most intimidating.
Then check out the sewing basics and some must have notions.

Now before you start your first project you’ll want to practice stitching on some scrap fabric. Here are some great tips to help you.

The first project I would start with is sewing pillow covers. You’ll be sewing straight lines and this tutorial on how to sew a pillow cover is great for beginners.

Once you feel a little more confident you can move onto sewing appliques, corners and even ruffles!
