An old picture from baby's first flight at 9-weeks!

It’s too bad Delta won’t let you register babies for Skymiles memberships, because I’m pretty sure Cullen could already buy a free ticket!  Okay, his tickets are free anyway, but you know what I mean.  Since his arrival last October, Cullen has flown round-trip to Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Maui, and now Atlanta.

Even though we’ve flown with him several times now, each age brings a totally different experience.  His first two flights were when he was much younger and he would sleep through just about anything.  These days, things are a bit more unpredictable.

Cullen is a crawling, climbing machine now, so we were nervous about how his new mobility would affect his ability to handle a long day of air travel.  All things considered, he did relatively well.  Our first flight was almost four hours long, and poor timing had us in the air during his most wakeful hours of the early morning.  He was restless and a bit frustrated, but he stayed mostly quiet and was happy to bounce on our laps, take a short nap, chew on keys and other toys, and pee all over his mom.

Flight number two fell perfectly in line with his afternoon nap, which made things much easier for all of us.  Prior to our trip, I worried that we would be the parents pacing the aisles with a screaming, thrashing baby, but luckily our little guy cooperated and didn’t seem to annoy our fellow passengers too much.

With that said, I’d like to issue a public service announcement that glaring at the parents of a crying baby will not alleviate the situation any faster.  Honestly, what is the point of these dirty looks?  When a baby is crying and parents are frantically digging for pacifiers, shushing, and bouncing, a dirty look or eye roll is only going to distract me and prolong the pain for all of us.

Luckily we didn’t have too much of that this time.  Here’s hoping for an uneventful cross-country flight home tomorrow!
