Not only is today Mother’s Day, but it’s also my son Ryan’s 4th birthday, who woke up this morning just after 5 a.m. eager to open presents and make his birthday chocolate chip muffins. So while eating ours muffins, my 7-year-old Zoe recited an impromptu Mother’s Day poem in my honor:
The best moms are like muffins
As fat as can be
They have chocolate chip heads
So we can eat them
Then she giggled and sang “I love you, mommy,” leaving me to ponder the poem’s profundity while praying the “fat as can be” wish NEVER EVER comes true.
